Lore1683- The forces of the Holy Roman Empire and the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth, both led by Polish King John Sobieski III, face the Ottoman forces besieging Vienna. During one of the largest cavalry charges in history, John Sobieski III led the attack against the Ottoman lines, followed by allied forces and flanked by his own Winged Hussars.One such hussar led his Banner valiantly in support of his king. Before the battle was over, and though they would claim victory, this hussar would fall to the Ottoman swords and arrows.Some time later, seeming to rise from the battlefield, the hussar would trek home to his beloved and his son. To his surprise, his wife cowered at his appearance and fled, screaming that a dark spirit had come to claim her recently departed son's soul. Confronted with his new eerie and dark form, the abandonment of his love, and the death of his son at the hands of pestilence, the hussar chose exile from his home and all he had known in self banishment.Despite being no more than a shadow bound to his armor, the hussar swore an oath to himself. He would discover why he had risen again and only then would he find peace. He is the Honor Bound Hussar, cursed to walk the Earth until his oath is fulfilled.
